David Buursma, DPT, FAFS
i’move-Spring Lake Aquatic Center
Dave has spent most of his life right here in West Michigan. He grew up along the lakeshore in Spring Lake before attending Calvin College and then earning his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University in 2009. He has continued to pursue his education through the Gray Institute’s Fellowship of Applied Functional Science and was awarded his FAFS in 2012.
Dave brings more than a decade of orthopedic experience to the i’move location at the Spring Lake Fitness and Aquatic Center, where he has been a familiar face since 2010. He utilizes both land-based and aquatic therapy to help members of the FAC and community members alike achieve successful recovery from injury. Dave’s true passion is connecting with clients on a personal level in an effort to develop goals that are meaningful and impactful to their daily life.
In his free time, Dave enjoys traveling to new places with his wife and young daughter, spending as much time as possible outdoors, and participating in local running races and triathlons. They reside on the West Side of Grand Rapids.
The back of Dave’s business card reads, “i’m motivating” because, as he puts it, “it is my personal aim to motivate individuals to reach their goals.” He is inspired by this quote from Steve Maraboli, “An inch of movement will bring you closer to your goals than a mile of intention.”
