Derek graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Exercise Science. Upon graduating, he has become a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the American College of Sports Medicine, and completed a Certification in Applied Functional Science (CAFS) through the Gray Institute.

More recently Derek has continued his studies by completing a Fellowship in Applied Functional Science (FAFS) through the Gray Institute, become a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach, and finished a BioForce Conditioning Coach certification.

Derek routinely works with people of all ages including high school athletes, collegiate teams, adults, and senior populations. In describing what he likes about his job, he states, “I enjoy working with people of all ages and abilities helping them move and perform to the best of their abilities!”

In his free time Derek loves being outside hiking, boating, gardening, or spending time on a golf course.
