Niko, whose actual name is Emmanuel, was born in the Philippines, but came to the United States at six months old. He grew up in Naples, Florida and received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Hope College, where he also played lacrosse. He then went back to Southwest Florida to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Florida Gulf Coast University. He is certified as a Titleist Performance Institute Professional, Functional Golf Specialist and Certified in Applied Functional Science through the Gray Institute, as well as a Functional Dry Needling Specialist, which he loves to incorporate into patients’ plans of care, if appropriate.

Niko has experience with general orthopedics and sports medicine. He has worked with athletes of all ages and skills, ranging from beginners to professionals, to help them get back in the game. Niko also finds joy in working with anyone who is trying to reach their goals, whether it be walking pain free or being able to chase their grandchildren. He loves to engage and educate his patients, understand their goals, and have fun along their rehabilitation journey. He believes in equipping his patients with tools to help rehabilitate and manage their condition on their own!

Another passion of Niko’s is working with golfers on performance and health related to their game. He is able to put you through a golf performance evaluation or even a movement screen to identify limitations and/or pain causing factors that may be limiting your ability to play. Whether the goal is hitting the ball further, playing for many more years, or decreasing pain while golfing, Niko would love to help you achieve these goals.

Niko moved to Michigan to be closer to extended family as he and his wife grow their family. He enjoys going on hikes and bike rides with his wife, son, and daughter, as well as going out to restaurants and breweries. Niko enjoys playing and coaching basketball, lacrosse and golf, while aspiring to be Club Champion at the Country Club.

The back of Niko’s business cards read “i’m cheering” because he truly loves helping his patients through their physical therapy experience and cheering them along as they reach their goals.
